Is it important for a programmer to memorize the syntax of the language?

For example I could not write a SQL connection string from scratch if I tried. I always either Google it or copy and paste it from a previous project. For some reason this bothers me, but I don't know if it should or if it's just not a big deal. There are probably other people who can relate and think of other examples as well.

You can never remember everything, the trick is to know where to look for the answers. If you can find the answers to your questions efficiently, you will be much better off than trying to remember everything.
