Programmers Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional programmers interested in conceptual questions about software development. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Possible Duplicate:
A project idea for project ideas?

If I have ideas for new kinds of websites or applications... What is the best place on the internet to get opinions on my ideas and possibly find people who would help me or join me in realizing them?

The community like SO's would be the most sutable for these topics, because it is the community of professional programmers, who are able to estimate feasibility of a project idea and to appreciate interesting ideas. On StackExchange, up/down votes would be great for separating the most interesting ideas and useful opinions/advices. And the 'reputation' feature can be useful in many ways too.

Unfortunately, simple Q&A format and the design of SE websites in general is not very suitable for this purpose.

So, my question is: Where can I reach the best community of professional programmers that, unlike the StackExchange, has a support for this kind of topics?

Other than the various programming-related SE sites, I would suggest posting to /r/programming at Reddit.com. It has a similar voting system as the SE sites and is a suitable place to gather opinions of other programmers.

I'm not sure how much discussion you'd generate, but I stumbled onto http://builditwith.me/ not too long ago.. Seems to be a decent way to go about finding others to come on board with you on your project.

However, there's nothing like good old in-person communication to get what you're looking for. Take a look at startup groups at meetup.com to see if there's one in your area.

You might enjoy halfbakery.com. People post all sorts of ideas, some crazy and some not so crazy, and others provide feedback and votes. Aggregated votes determine the number of croissants or fishbones the idea gets, in keeping with the 'bakery' theme.

Recent contributions include thermonuclear raclette, color QR codes, and shipping container teleclassrooms.

Depending on the topic - you might find a suitable channel on IRC.
