(I posted this at serverfault and it was suggested I post here instead)

I'm looking for an application recommendation to help me keep track of the discussions I have with the members of my team during our weekly 1-on-1 meetings.

A windows desktop app would probably be best. For features, it should be able to manage goals, training, performance, reviews, and incidents.

It should have an easy to use interface, but not as clunky as some of the tools like http://www.managerassistant.com/products.html

word/notepad or excel just doesn't seem like a good fit...

any ideas?

What things do you want to store in regards to 1-1 meets? And how do you want to be able to get at that data – Chris Oct 18 '10 at 17:02
assigning a note to a date and category would be great. so that it would be easy to look up last week's actionable items, as well, as looking toward future goal items. During review time, I could (pseudo-sql) select * from incidents where datetime=lastYear and employee=johnD – bluevoodoo1 Oct 18 '10 at 19:48
or something that is 'loose' as fogbugz... very few required fields to get data in, but allows easy filtering. (I wouldn't want to store this data on the web) – bluevoodoo1 Oct 18 '10 at 20:48

I second Chris's recommendation for OneNote (ON). Combined with a tablet PC it is ideal for what you're asking about. I'm a Manager Tools (http://www.manager-tools.com/) disciple and kept all of my one-on-one (O3) meeting notes in ON. You can have multiple notebooks with multiple sections and sub-sections. Everything is searchable and linkable. It also integrates tightly with Outlook which is very handy for being able to tie things together. Anything that I wound up writing by hand I scanned and dropped into ON. There is also the ability with a tablet PC to free-hand things so it's great for jotting down ideas and such.
