Programmers Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional programmers interested in conceptual questions about software development. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I read that Apple rejected some apps because of special features Apple thinks are their own. I wonder if there is a limit to the right of Apple to reject apps from iOS and OSX AppStores. For example, if I make an app that is very good so they can fear its success, are they in right to reject it?

It is their right to reject whatever they want from the app store because they own the app store.

Think about the guy who wrote a JVM (limited) app for the appstore and it was rejected outright, probably because they feared it would be easier to write applications in Java for the iPhone than in Objective C.

They can do what they like. It's their store, after all.
