Do people in non-English-speaking countries code in English?

This is a topic in which I would like us to discuss in a little. Its a very interesting topic.

This is a question I've been wondering for a while: How do people speaking a different languages program/script?

It seems that all programming/scripting languages are written in English. Why is that? And is it possible to actually program in a different language?

Let's look at an example:

Let create a simple function in JavaScript (in English):

function alertBox(message){

But what if you'rer German, for example, and you don't know English and your life passion is to program/script? Do you have to learn English or is this possible:

funckion alarmierenBox(nachricht){

It doesn't seem that would work.

Has anyone else ever though of this? Or am I the only one?

Well, give me your thoughts below and I hope someone can give me an idea of how people speaking a different language program/script because the only thing I can think of is another program that would translate it.

Thanks for the answers. :)

Of course you have to use the keywords defined by the language such as alert, function, break, while, etc., but you can name variables and function however you like it. You could also create a new language or converter where the keywords are taken from a different language, such as German. –  Felix Mar 5 '12 at 21:36
I believe that there are versions of VBA with non-english keywords. I'm not sure how far it goes. –  Sean McMillan Mar 5 '12 at 21:37

I have only ever seen one foreign language in programming - Pascal in French with Debut and Finis instead of Begin and End

You could do

var alarmierenBox = function(nachricht){
