I'm looking for data on programming technology adoptions rates. I'm curious to find data of job demand and programmer supply across a number of different technologies. So far, I've been looking at LinkedIn's Skills and Google Trends, but these only track programmer interest.

Any suggestions on finding the data that I'm looking for?

A lot of this stuff is non-quantifiable, so I'd be wary of using the results for anything serious. –  Mike Baranczak Mar 7 '12 at 15:46

I would look at what employers are hiring for. Most often employers are looking to hire for projects in the future. So if they are looking for certain skill sets then that is probably what they are using for development. This is not perfect but probably a better source than programmer interest.
