Programmers Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional programmers interested in conceptual questions about software development. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have two questions on the search results panel (Find Occurrences of...) in PHP Storm:

  1. What does "Unclassified usage" mean? How can results be classified?
  2. Is there any way not to group results by file?

I am using the latest version (3.0.3)

Quoting the documentation:

Group by usage type

If this button is pressed, the search results are grouped by the following categories:

  • comments
  • unclassified usage not related to any of the categories

On the same page you can read about grouping modes, for your second question disable Group by package.

OK, great: my search result panel does not have these two buttons. Why? How can I bring them back? –  linepogl Mar 9 '12 at 17:00

All the buttons are there: dl.dropbox.com/u/2752840/screens/snap1079-1331327207.png. Make sure you run the latest version, try to reset application settings by moving away configuration directory: devnet.jetbrains.net/docs/DOC-181. –  CrazyCoder Mar 9 '12 at 17:07
