Programmers Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional programmers interested in conceptual questions about software development. It's 100% free.

I am teaching myself C# and Im using a book that references Visual Studio 2008. However, I am using VS 2010. The book wants me to look at the object browser by choosing View, Other Windows, Object Browser from the menu. However, the object browser is not there. I moused over the icons on the menu and nothing stood out. So, where is it?

Also, am I going to run into more problems like this? Is it worth getting an updated book?

yes, there is no object browser under view. Nor do I see a button on the toolbar. – Keltari Sep 2 '12 at 6:11

I am using Visual Studio Express 2010 and I can get to Object Browser under View Menu when switching to Expert Settings.

Just go to Tools/Settings/Expert Settings and after that you will have Object Browser under View.

That was it! Thanks! – Keltari Sep 2 '12 at 8:01

There's a shortcut for that: Just press Ctrl-W,J

it's a easy way to open the object browser.

Works! However, I still curious how to open it up without a shortcut – Keltari Sep 2 '12 at 6:37
I don't know. It should be in the View menu. My VS is in spanish but you can see the Object Browser as "Examinador de objetos" – EdgarT Sep 2 '12 at 6:40
