I found this website containing a bunch of these "Shoot yourself in the foot jokes" but I did not get this one:

Objective C: You write a protocol for shooting yourself in the foot so that all people can get shot in their feet.

@AndresF. If you have a better version of the question in mind, please edit it. While it's on topic and answerable, it's also a bit not constructive (opinion heavy answers, etc). Also, we hate fun. –  Yannis Rizos Dec 3 '12 at 2:28

Hi @JLott and welcome! Not constructive is our lingo for questions that tend to lead to extended discussion, they can be excellent questions, but the Q&A format doesn't really cope with them. Check out our FAQ for more details. –  Yannis Rizos Dec 3 '12 at 2:29

I assume it is because protocols if defined as required makes sure anyone that uses your class as a delegate must also implement your protocol.

Only thing is you don't have to implement every protocol as many are optional so well, there you go.

I really liked this one about Smalltalk: You shoot yourself in the foot, and your foot sends "doesNotUnderstand: Pain" to your brain. –  Denis Mikhaylov Apr 16 '13 at 12:24
