I have just finished a very nasty Web (JQuery/PHP) project where absolutely all went wrong: the client was constantly changing the requirements, and as a result there was a constant lack of time which in turn has led to many bugs and to many disappointed customers.
I am not going to blame the client (won't help anyway) but I started to wonder what professional tools would/could/should be helpful in such situation. Currently I have 2 IDEs (Visual Studio and Komodo IDE), I am working with Perforce for version control and I use Google Developer Tools and PHPConsole for debugging. That's about all.
I am currently thinking about:
I am looking to organize better my professional life, not to improve my manager skills. Any suggestions?
Obviously I know about prototyping, demoing , Agile and SCRUM. In my experience all these techniques are useful only when clients are willing to use them too.
Besides, in the real life sometimes things are changing so rapidly (exactly what happened to my last project) that a client just doesn't have any choice, he/she should change the requirements.
I am not looking for an exact recipe, just wanted to hear from others about useful tools/techniques/approaches.
