So this list is nothing?
If you've really read this in a blog, stop reading this blog right now. It's written by a person who is not a web developer, doesn't know any web developer, and has no idea about web development.
This applies as well to any similar affirmation, such as:
A developer who makes software for embedded devices doesn't [have to] know much.
A developer who creates desktop software doesn't [have to] know much.
A developer who works only with statistical analysis applications doesn't [have to] know much.
Such affirmations may be issued by:
Programmers who are jealous of those who work in a different field. A programmer who, all his life, made desktop applications, may be angry to see that web apps are requested more and more today. In order to stop losing his customers, he has to make a choice:
Learn web development.
Blame web, telling that it sucks, that customers are stupid, that desktop apps are great and that web developers are all dumb.
The second alternative is much easier; the first one requires a lot of learning.
Programmers who have just tried something and believe that they already know everything. A 14 years old guy who starts playing with PHP and makes his first website a few days later can effectively believe that web development is easy. The more he advances into the field, the more he understands how difficult and large it is.
So no, web development is not easier/less real than any other field, and those who says otherwise have no idea what they are talking about.
