- Are certifications worth it? 28 answers
I spent years earning a Ph.D. in a non-computer related field (musicology) but have found the job market almost, if not completely dried up. I have spent the last year or so learning a multitude of programming languages, including Java, in which I plan to get certified. My question is: are companies willing to hire applicants who carry college degrees in addition to certificates in a desired language or do I need to enroll in another Bachelors/Masters program for Computer Science in order to be considered for a job?
