I want to know if PHP programmers are validated with their Zend Certified Engineer certification. Around me some of them are saying it is very useful, some of them say no. Please clear my mind. Thanks in advance.

I'm not and currently have no reason to get certified, hasn't seemed to harm my ability to get interviews and contracts. I have a few years experience with Zend now so that also helps.

If however you are new to the field it may be something worth getting to seperate you from the crowd.

I think certificates can be useful at the start of your career. However, later on, prospective employers will be more interested in your past projects and experience, than your certificates.

I certainly hope that's the case. – Matt Ellen Feb 24 '11 at 16:06

If you are starting out it might be helpful. Otherwise I would save my money. I have been offered many jobs doing PHP (including at Zend) and never had one.

I have the Zend certification. I'm pretty sure no one I have worked for knew what it was.

Honestly good to know. I'm doing my ZCE (5.3) and ZFC now and I doubt the papers would help.... – ehime Apr 1 '13 at 18:15
