I am going to be doing a short PHP test/project (20-30 mins) at an interview very soon. The job is at a junior to mid-weight salary (although no specific knowledge level is in the job spec) at a media agency.

I am looking for any advice on where to concentrate my revision? Should I focus on core concepts (design patterns) or more on method syntax recall? I am not sure if I will have web access during the test, is this normal? any example of a what a small project might mean?

Any advice at all would be gratefully received.

The best preparation would be to do as many small projects in PHP as you can between now and then.

Ultimately, you can't cram programming skill into your head, but practice at small projects will help you to encounter the typical issues of starting a project from scratch, and help build confidence.

There are plenty of collections of coding exercises on the web, here's one example:

Some of these are very easy, and some are far more that can be done in 30 minutes.

Only Method syntax recall ( as you say it) can be improved In a short amount of time.

Your ability to re-learn and begin to apply concepts such as design patterns to specific problems will a lot more time to regain if you haven't been using them in your normal routine.
