Programmers Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional programmers interested in conceptual questions about software development. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I going to create a project that has the following features:

  • Create Audio and Video Podcast
  • Create & Browse Podcast Hoster's Profile
  • Manage Hoster's Profile ( add podcast , remove podcast , archive podcast )
  • Paypal Payment implementation
  • Secure User Login system
  • Able to expose data as a webservice.

Can anyone suggest me the better PHP framwork or CMS ( if required ) and a multimedia server for the same purpose. Any other suggestions are also welcome.

I've had a lot of luck with Wordpress - most of the functions you describe can be found through Wordpress plugins. (For podcasting, there is the "Podcasting" plugin or the Blubrry PowerPress plugin - both have worked pretty well for me.)

The only thing I'm not sure about - when you say 'exposing data through webservices', does RSS work for your needs?

As wordpress is for normal web pages and sub pages so is it possible to create a heavy page which includes audio and video podcast player , facebook , twitter integration and all ? –  Hunt May 25 '11 at 8:26

Yes - but you'll need to investigate and install the appropriate plugins. (wordpress.org/extend/plugins ) You can extend Wordpress to include quite a bit of functionality through plugins (and even some custom development if needed). –  Chad Thompson May 25 '11 at 13:13
