Programmers Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional programmers interested in conceptual questions about software development. It's 100% free.

If I want to learn a new programming language, I cannot master it without digging it deeply. Maybe a project would be good, but I am lacking idea for them.

Where can I find projects to work on, maybe some open-source project?

There's a little shop that will sell you them. See wheredoyougetyourideas.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/neil-gaiman/… –  DJClayworth Jun 16 '11 at 16:46

@DJClayworth, imaginary story and real project are different.....I can daydream about a virtual monster easily, but I have no idea on interesting project. –  lamwaiman1988 Jun 16 '11 at 16:50

A book is as real as software, and both start with an abstract idea. –  DJClayworth Jun 16 '11 at 17:59

Someone I know keeps their skills sharp by building a little stock tracking application in many different languages.
