Programmers Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional programmers interested in conceptual questions about software development. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I would like to learn about developing for Android, I am a visual learner and I would prefer watching a video over reading something. For developing on the iPhone most people recommend the Stanford University CS193P videos that are available on the iTunes U. Is there a similar resource that is available for developing on Android?

What I'm looking for is in depth coverage and not just a superficial application development demonstration. It would be great if it were free but i wouldn't mind paying for it either if you think its wort it.

Suggestions for a good book are welcome too if you feel that's the best way to learn.

Another option is the Android Bootcamp Screencast series. They are recordings of a 5 day training course so there is lots of content and it will cover lots of categories. Everything is hosted on YouTube, but this page is a nice front end to browsing the videos.

After looking around, I guess this is what I need. I'll begin my journey with these. – nikhil Jul 11 '11 at 14:03

Only videos I know about Android development are available on PluralSight. The site is mostly for Microsoft technologies but I think this course is good for general introduction.

It is a monthly subscription but you can sign up for a free trial.
