@Andrew, the book is peppered with tongue-in-cheek comments throughout that keeps the book light, but is also VERY informative and, it seems, a place a lot of people have started learning about Haskell.

yeah, actually LYAH is what got me interested in this book to begin with. ACtually, I guess i started with RWH and then, once I felt like I was in over my head, I switched to LYAH. I'll probably go back to RWH at some point, but I thought I might try and learn more about HappStack in my travels through Haskell.
