comment Throwing exception from a property when my object state is invalid
Exceptions must not be thrown from a getter, but can be thrown from a setter, when the value is invalid, which is the case. msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229006.aspx

comment Why doesn't C# have local scope in case blocks?
I see that, but since the commentor doesn't post an answer, I thought it could be a good idea to explicitly create the anwser by quoting the content of the link. And I don't care the downvotes! The OP ask the historical reason, not a "How to do it" answer.

comment Maintenance wise, is `else while` without intervening braces considered safe?
I think it's quite obvious that it is a very bad idea! Don't ever do that for the sake of the mental integrity of your co-workers.

comment The limit of Int32 for Identity Column
If I may add too, 2 billions is not that big, and if ever you reach this number, this will be nasty. My personal choice is always to use 64 bits int for identity. That's not an effort, this is just a choice to make. That doesn't make your life worse and you fell better!
