A happy user of bitbucket and occasional creator of screen savers for OSX.

Tinkering with an online lint like tool for OpenCL, a const by default C++ compiler patch for LLVM/clang, and a byte-code to OpenCL compiler.

comment How to read thousands lines of code without any documentation?
Woe betide if the code base is too large to debug in a debugger. Seeing the code react to a known input and output helps to transform the knowledge of "what" to "how". The question "why" is never one that can be answered with a debugger alone, but there may be inline source comments you can see in the IDE as you debug.

comment Is Oberon really “a better Pascal”?
Wirth was a purist; he decided it was better to lose the type safety of enums for extensibility and orthogonality. We write a lot of code that benefits from type checking of enums, where co-incidental value collisions would otherwise introduce subtle errors. In short, since we control both the entire Oberon code base, and the compiler, we do without type extension on enums, in order to prevent a class of extremely irritating program errors.
