I'm a professional game developer (mainly programmer). I do Java and, when I have to, ActionScript 3. I also know PHP very well (Zend certified), but I avoid it if possible.

In my free time I co-run and develop for Revora Creative Network, a collection of sites hosting and providing services to creative projects (mostly game mods and indie games).

My UUID is:

comment What makes C developers so curious if “i++ == ++i”?
I think it's 5.5 and 6.5, but I've never seen ++ used on a float before, and I must say it doesn't feel very appropriate. Do people do that? (I'd prefer += 1)

comment What is each time through a loop called?
I prefer iteration. Pass is something on a large scale, e.g. two passes of the video encoder (which may or may not be in a loop)

comment What are you telling yourself if you can't understand new concept, paradigm, feature …?
"If you don't understand a problem, there is an easier problem that you don't understand." - I get what you meant, but technically you wrote an infinitely recursing statement :)

comment What syntax element do you hate most in a programming language you use frequently?
@greyfade I'm not saying you should automatically have getters and setters for all fields, but there are many valid use cases for other code directly setting the value of a field, in which case setters are obviously better than public fields.

comment Why do new programmers seem to ignore compiler error messages/runtime exception messages?
Hidden very well? Just scan for your package name.

Or if (condition) while (...) { /* multiple lines here */ }

comment What syntax element do you hate most in a programming language you use frequently?
@greyfade: If it's public, you can't easily change what the setting code does (you'll have to change all code that sets the field from the outside).

comment What is the hardest bug to find?
Yeah, this happens. It's sometimes even caused by tools. Today I had two versions of the same file in my Flash Builder project (by accident) and while the compiler would use version A, Ctrl-Clicking on the class name in another file would open version B in the editor.
