Two hours to write this? Wow.

@leftaroundabout, That's an interesting solution.

comment Why are interfaces useful?
Anyone who has created a custom membership provider in ASP.NET would understand why interfaces are so valuable.

+1 for "Well I'm glad you like it." And all the other stuff too.

comment What is the benefit of not using Hungarian notation?
The logic is not quite the same. While the I prefix is from Hungarian notation, the reason behind using the I actually has an explanation. stackoverflow.com/questions/222457/…

comment What is the benefit of not using Hungarian notation?
Well, that's the thing: Hungarian notation is not the convention. It may have been in the past, but it's not anymore. Take a look at the .NET Framework source, sample apps posted on popular .NET blogs, generated code in Visual Studio, etc. We could agree that all strings should be prefixed with str, but as you can see in the answers to the question, that's not what people want.

The I prefix on interfaces is a convention adopted by the .NET community.

comment What are some high quality Enterprise Architecture conferences or training programs?
Enterprise architecture and enterprise software architecture are not the same thing, by a longshot.

You are so out of touch sometimes, Joel.

comment Is kick-starting myself into the programming world by reading from a book about VS 2008 & .NET 3.5 a bad idea?
IMHO, you should start with Ruby or Python instead. Not that those languages are better, but only because the barriers are a bit smaller, especially for new programmers. learnpythonthehardway.org is an excellent primer for new devs.

Your employer is a Sarlaac pit and staying there will slowly digest you for thousands of years.

comment Why don't all companies buy developers the best hardware?
I spent about $4000 for my home development machine, a Mac Pro with dual Xeons. My gaming computer cost about half that.

comment Why is XML not called EML?
Yeah, so? That's not the norm outside of mathematics. X has been used to define the unknown for quite some time. Other letters, not so much. C.f. X-ray, Generation X, etc.

Because 'X' used in this context can be shorthand for 'fill in the blank.' A variable, as it were.

comment How can I get the business analysts more involved in BDD?
Well, one of them likes pina coladas and long walks on the beach. Seriously, what difference does it make? Your suggestions, whether based on a hunch or practical experience, are valuable, helpful directly or not. If you have an idea as to how a non-developer who is on your project can be part of BDD, then by all means, post it. It's not like I'm going to lose my job because you clicked the Post Answer button.

Think less about how the .feature files are created (they have to be, so they're a given) and more about the workflow for the BA. Do I set up a BA with git access so they can pull the source down and edit the .feature files? Do I let them write the scenarios in Jira and then someone(?) manually creates the files? That's what I'm looking for. In other words, tips (perhaps based on experience) of how to make this work beyond the dev's POV.

Yes, that is all the stuff I know. That is why I'm asking for suggestions on precisely how to do that.

That's part of using SpecFlow. They could create the .feature files in Notepad for all I care. That's part of my question. How can I make it easier?
