How do I make the correct career decision in regards to product manager/QA vs programmer? Agree with Jimmy, if you are seeking career advancement, I would suggest you to take QA/Prod Mgt. Programmer who shines are the type of person who absorb in puzzle solving, not to mention actively seeks tech-news and skill advancement all day long. without passionate, most of the engineer would stuck with day-in-day-out do "what's told" coding instead (since performance diff can be ten or may be hundred fold). They are basically stuck on that position. |

Is programming as a profession in a race to the bottom? +1 for we are paid (mostly) to solve problems, and writing code is not the end, only the means to that |

How common is pair programming in the workplace? It's sad to hear those unreasonable rules management applies to the programmers (That's pretty dumb, don't you think? They have to put extra effort to keep us happy to balance that) |

How many lines of code can a C# developer produce per month? @Nitrodist indeed good comments are, the comments I am referring to is just used to "make" the executive happy. Which would be totally useless... |

Is this Job Smell? @m.edmondson if your test code will go into production, it's a bad sign for this company. Given they don't have the time for their full time employee don't have time to work on that feature / They don't have any other staff can code like you? Aside from pride for your code, I see no reason a decent company will consider that. Run away, as quickly as you can... |

At What Point Should You Start To Think About Performance? +1 for the three point. They are all nailed to the system when you finish, and make a great deal on performance optimizing. You just can't get that increase, if everything is finished. Also can't agree more with Adam that some people use the quote as a shield for slacking. |
