comment Can daily reports decrease a developer's productivity?
+1: we are doing the same. Not daily, but weekly on monday for the whole week (so your way, just on a bigger timeframe). We aren't doing it daily because most employees are students and aren't there every day, most communication is via IM or similar as well, so a weekly meeting between the whole team (about 10) is sufficient.

comment Switch from C# to Java, which “gotchas” I should care?
I'm glad it isn't, as it destroys the reason of OOP. With every method being virtual by default you basically enable your whole class to be replaced, which you usually don't want. Also, changing a method from non-final to final can break deriving code, while the other way doesn't.

comment Programming languages that improve your programming skill in general?
yes, I am aware of that. However, I see that as a major fault in the language, while others will see it as an advantage (everything as a procedure etc). I could imagine, as an example, using F# in a real life application. I never came across scheme as a way to implement a real life application - I'd love an example for that. Scheme probably won't appear, but LISP... still, I see scheme only as a way to introduce somebody to programming (as we do in first semester in uni) as you are forced to follow specific concept I have to admit took some time to learn for me.

comment Programming languages that improve your programming skill in general?
I'm doing scheme in university atm and I hate it. Not because it is a functional language, I want to get into that for a long time any. However, the syntax really kills me. There are three different types of braces on the keyboard (four if you count angle brackets) and you only are using parantheses. Why? What is the problem with using the other ones?
