comment What would be good factual arguments to convince high level management to consider functional programming?
@giorgio I would even argue that there are still just a few FP devs but many more wannabees

@Giorgio - I never said that it is hard to replace them but I my experience the availability can differ from location to location. Some college graduates never even learned the basics whereas some universities specialize in them. For a business it is very important to look to the long term and the expected need of new hires.

@Andy - Yes, that is why I am not refuting the question and I do think that managers should be interested in the topics I stated. My worry is more or less that the solution (Functional Programming Languages) is chosen BEFORE the problem (???) is defined.

comment Is there a conventional way to combine file path strings?
.NET's Path.Combine is not broken. Just don't feed it separators. make sure that you read the documentation, if the second argument is a root path it has a defined outcome. You might not like it but that doesn't mean it is broken.

@sapi - Of course, user input should always be sanitized but that is the responsibility of the programmer, not of the API.

@jmoreno - In my example there are NO separators. The question you linked to has hard coded separators and if fundamentally wrong because the second path is an absolute path.
