How important is it for a programmer to have an online presence? About Linkeid is was a typo, about github, in a resume, you should put 3 identified, your name (obvious), your cellphone or landline and your email. Additionally you can put other information but most of the time, reviewers don't care about it (with some rare exception). And for facebook, reviewers check it only for find personal weakness, Facebook it is not (anymore) a place to put your professional profile but your personal record. Anyways, my workers spend so much time in facebook and most do, so i won't recommend a guy that is addict to facebook over a worker that does not use it. |

Do you think that GAE alone is enough to justify learning Python over Ruby? The original question was 2 year ago and a lot has happened with GAE, For Python, the new changes of policies turn Python in expensive, and in general GAE is pretty expensive for justify to switch over it. In my case, i finished dropping GAE and migrating to a VPS. |

Is it necessary to create a database with as few tables as possible In the case, it is explained that users and customers share the same fields. I am found some "database models" with thousand of tables, for example "table_usa, table_canada, table_uk", where a single "table_country" is more than enough. Exist a performance and maintenance impact for every new table, without counting the extra documentation for each table and the impact (if any) for table. And, one advantage of a unified-mode-of-table is that (again using the example) is easy to add a "new entity" (provider) is they share the same parameters than user and customer. |

Help needed on a UI/Developer Interview yes but it is not part of the interview, it is before the real interview as a filter to reject unsolicited candidates and it can be done by a untrained personal. But again, it is not part of the interview. For example, in baseball, you can screw it in first base, a "phone interview" is even early, it is outside the field. |

Help needed on a UI/Developer Interview I am worked for some multinational companies and no, they don't do that, not even for a macjob. The reason are simple :its impractical to do a phone interview because a) its easy to fake it (to use another person), b) its hard to question specific question, c) HR can't measure the "human feeling". |
