comment Why don't developers make installation wizards on linux?
@iveqy I just realized we've gotten off topic. This has nothing to do with what I originally said and that you still don't see such wizards is further evidence of what I said.

@iveqy Any text config file will give you far more abilities than any installation "wizard" ever will. If such wizards could do better, they would exist, but they don't.

In case you aren't aware, it's been part of the spec for many years: w3.org/TR/CSS2/syndata.html#vendor-keywords

comment How Microsoft Market DotNet?
@Fendy Well, you're saying the same thing. They lost power when they didn't do it and, without searching through the article again, there is a title about them losing the backwards compatibility religion.

comment Does IE have more strict Javascript parsing than Chrome?
@ClayShannon IE11 already trails behind all other browsers and it's not even out yet. And then, there it will sit, for at least another year while every other browser moves the web forward every 6-8 weeks. I haven't compiled my list for that one yet.

comment Does IE have more strict Javascript parsing than Chrome?
@ClayShannon Yes, it lit a fire under them. Instead of being 10 years behind the times, they're now only 3 years behind. Inept at best IE 10 is still the worst browser on the planet.

The web developer's mantra, "If it works in IE, but not the other browsers, your code is wrong." You can never trust IE to do anything right. Eventually, you'll find out the issue was with your code or Chrome was right in the first place.

comment Is there an advantage for a C programmer to have read K&R?
K&R removed the fear of learning it for me. It's almost as if they were sitting next to me explaining things in a homey, friendly chat. That is the value of "the white book". (And I learned it in 1985)

What are these frameworks things you speak of? Never had 'em. Never will after nearly 10 years of doing this.

comment Am I slow or is this normal?
In any new area I've gotten into, my personal experience has worked out like this: it takes me three years to become comfortable. Five years and my opinion matters to everyone else. Nine to ten years and I'm a master.
