comment Is it considered poor practice to include a bug number in a method name for a temporary workaround?
Imagine this becoming a common practice: your header file would be filled with functions such as PerformSQLClient41232(); PerformSQLClient76593(); PerformSQLClient653429(); ... oh the maintenance horror.

comment Returning from a long function on the first false condition
+1 This seems nice in general, but this is a comparison function and doesn't really qualify to be broken down further. I guess I will stick with if(!a)goto EXIT; pattern.

I try to avoid multiple returns as a rule of thumb as they sometimes (not necessarily here) make it hard to debug. If you have just one return statement, you can put a print at the end of the function and see what it returns.

comment What was the worst piece of code you fixed that you are proud of?
Thanks @Mason I thought UserName='John O''Reily' will become UserName='John OReily' (like how C concatenates adjacent string literals), but didn't think about the missing ' :(

I take SQL concatenates two adjacent string literals, does it?

My friend wants me update his mobile phone (a duplicate one that he bought at 20% of the original price) so that it works just like the original. Sigh!

+1 My team has people from at least 7 different languages. English is the only way to go - even for gossiping :)
