What is a good language to develop in for simple, yet customizable math programs? Note that you can develop Cocoa applications using MacRuby. If you keep user interface separate from core algorithms, they should be easily ported to Ruby on Rails. |

Why do programmers use or recommend Mac OS X? @Apreche I partially see that as a sign of ‘Unix’ developers being ‘GNU/Linux’ developers, actually. FreeBSD suffers from a similar problem: software needs extra packaging/patching because they use GNU/Linux-specific features. |

Must a programmer learn text editors like Emacs and Vim? How important are they? Another editor that’s (was?) always available is ed. Quite handy when connecting to a server via unreliable modem/POTS with low baud rate. |
