+1 for the tough part. You feel restless if you see code and you cant implement it!

I'm not sure if moving to programmers from SO has removed the bounty. I'll see if i can get some help on that

Thank you so much for taking time out and putting your thoughts. I'll keep these inputs in mind and start planning for it now! Thanks again.

I'll take this suggestion up as well along with @merryprankster. I'll think about alternating between having camps without a challenge and one with challenges. Probably one will be where we learn something and the other can be where we have a competition on it. Interesting inputs. Thank you.

comment How do you design code?
@Neil interesting point of debate:) probably a dumb question but what does that have to do with it any of the styles of programming? Wont your low level design consisting of sequence diagrams etc be useful there? Flowcharts imho are more or less to understand and see what it is that you want your program to achieve at the end of the day.

Similar with a few additions:<br> <br> 1. Always question yourself and the design. Many a times as a dev, the design is almost complete and we are given parts of the application to develop. Understand the bigger picture of your application and start questioning if you can make it better. Ideas from the team are always welcome <br> 2. Flowcharts. Have many of them. If the application is too complicated, draw a very high level one to start off with. Start breaking it down to smaller flowcharts. <br>

comment What's the best way to recruit talented female developers?
Well Marcie.. I'll try to keep it short without digressing too much away from the topic.. pardon me if i do! it so happens that in India, there is a tendency for parents/guardians/whoever to ask the ladies to be back home before a certain time. Yes, things are changing, but we cannot enforce the ladies to stay back late at work. when I say late, i'm talking post 9 or 10 PM. But believe me, I have seen ladies sitting up pretty late at night without any qualms though they have many household responsibilities as well. Things are changing, and for the better. Hope that answers your question.

comment Why do business analysts and project managers get higher salaries than programmers?
lol I would agree. Seriously, but things would be so much simpler if everybody just did their jobs!
