comment Into which artifact does one package intermediate classes?
Yeah we thought of that, would it be a set of Adapters/Translators sitting in a separate JAR? Not many in the team were in favour, believing it should be in A or B and not a separate C. I'm glad someone else has used this approach.

Thanks - It's a JEE web application. I'll edit my question to add that.

comment Architecture Review Guidelines for Java/JEE project
@Michael: Thanks for your reply. This is an existing and long-running project, which we're planning to extend for the next set of use cases. So the aim of the review is to assess current stability and overall readiness/maturity for the next set of requirements. We do have all existing architecture documentations, but not to the level of quality attributes.

There is some debate over on english.se on what you mean by "grow organically" - english.stackexchange.com/questions/17853/… - would you like to confirm :)

comment Is it necessary to discuss database changes
@Rahul: It depends on what impact the changes have. Are you changing the length of a single VARCHAR2 column or adding new columns to the table? In any case, I'd say discussion is better than not doing so - and regretting later.

comment How to introduce Agile to a team that uses rigid non-Agile methods?
@haylem: glad it helped. in our case, we appointed a keen team member the Agile Champion to facilitate the transition. He made all of us aware of a lot of this stuff. Maybe you could volunteer for such a role.

You've been considerate to the new guy, now all you need is to leave this link open on his browser somehow ;)

comment I believe my solution is better than my boss's, so should I ignore him?
@Morten, Pierre: Agree to your "email" comments. I meant there should be a discussion on the OP's points vs his bosses' points.

Well, cos your blog/SO profile shows you've been coding at the same time I'm watching Dan on TV ;)

Totally unrelated - does anyone else think Marc looks like New Zealand cricket captain Daniel Vettori google.com/images?q=daniel+vettori&biw=1024&bih=582 - at least from your profile image

You've hit all the exact points about the situation we are in. Yes it's part of my job and we do have a repository of useful collateral. This collateral increases and improves after each assignment, esp. those that are fruitful are imp learnings. I'm annoyed at the ones which we know the client is clearly not interested in (for various reasons) - but Sales speak to various members of the organization (up the ladder from Manager to Director and now we've reached VP) and the demand is - it must be better than the last one since now it's the VP etc
