For the record, I am eternally against posting things in public without proper permission. There would obviously be a discussion regarding which data are to be considered "critical." It will be then included in the contract.

@thexacre Say they really own the product, in a general legal perspective, can it be published under these conditions: (1) client has approved the publishing; (2) client and myself have signed documents saying that the client still owns the code (even if published); (3) project is published with explicit citing that the project is owned by said client?

I would never post the code publicly without their approval. I'm asking if it SHOULD involve formal documentation.
