@Charles Good point re: a bias based on the positions I've generally been an interviewer for in the past. Most have had more of a focus on good all-around dev skills, rather than the more math-oriented comp sci stuff, so maybe they just don't attract the smarter MS holders.

I would absolutely disagree with the idea that an undergrad who feels their programming skills are not good enough should stay on to do a Masters. I really do feel a year in industry will improve their programming chops more than a year in academia.
