comment What do programmers want in a web API?
+1 for "standards", even if not official standards. I think developers look for familiarity, so they are more likely to use it if they don't have to figure out how to use it because it looks similar to others they've used.

comment How to explain the value of unit testing
+1 for the practical aspect. We did this in our 50+ dev. shop and it's catching on. Every time we get one more dev. writing the tests, they are hooked.

comment NP hard/complete
I think this belongs in the Theoretical Computer Science Q&A, I noticed you already posted it there...cstheory.stackexchange.com/questions/6671/np-hard-complete edit: just noticed someone there believes it doesn't belong there. cross site mod duel.

comment How to handle growing QA reporting requirements?
I wouldn't work in a company where you get measured strongly on the bugs you create. That's how people will stay away from hard problems, that's how teammates will turn on each other. You can foster quality and responsibility with less reactive methods. I would start by trying to get rid of the idea of using that metric. You can still establish goals of completion and quality on a team scale, teams will self-regulate if you allow them (and if you hired right).

comment When does Continuous Integration add value?
You could claim that compilation is the first test of any unit. So, if it compiles, it passed the compilation test. Under that idea, even without unit tests I believe it is of great benefit.
