If I know that the supplier is using unittesting, I would trust them more. But is that reasonable of me?? My argument is (having produced a lot of code myself) that the price of fixing a bug or extending some functionality is a lot less if your code is covered by proper tests. This makes it my business whether they unit test or not. But I am not entirely sure if this is an unfair assumption (?)

@DocBrown: I know but my question (and my quarrel with my colleagues) is if we should demmand unit-testing from our suppliers.

We buy them as projects. This means that we expect to parttake in the development process, we will own the code and we will most likely be extending the code several times. Most important: The extension will not always be made by the company that produced version 1.0

comment Should I demand unit-testing from programmers?
@Bart: I would, but my colleagues doesn't think it is important for us as customers whether our selected supplier unittests or not.

@Joachim: Unit-testing in specific. Testing in general is accepted. We are just not willing to make demmands of unittesting.

Would I want un-tested code?? Can anyone produce large pieces of stable, reliable SW without unit-testing ??
