Agreed. It's all about economics. Once you put an economic spin to your viewpoint, ANY lead who's real, will hear you out and reconsider their stance. Make the tradeoff explicit: Ex.: More time implies things will come later implies a deadline maybe missed implying a revenue hit. Sometimes, they need to shown the path to the goal of the 'trade off' in essence.
