comment Feedback on this back-end stack
@maple_shaft Web services in Node.JS are fast, easy, and have a very small footprint. One silly example: Apache allocates 8MB for a new connection, Node allocates 8kb. I've got live production services in the wild using Node, and love working in it. Currently developing a full-stack e-commerce site in Node, and it's coming together beautifully.

comment in doubt of using code generators
Thanks for the story of Mel.. I'm not a fan of high level abstraction, so I agree completely. Good day.

I get your point, but I still have a problem with the analogy and it's not a real answer. The switches on the front panel method no longer exists, so it's not a choice you can make... Some languages really do make things 'magic' and it's very difficult to give up control of the application flow and trust that your framework is going to put all the pieces together properly.

-1. Sarcastic and bad analogy, not an answer.

comment Need to figure out Timesheet via Email
Why not use a web based solution? Using email seems a bit Rube Goldberg..

comment Should curly braces appear on their own line?
Breaking out the parameters to multiple lines like that is maddening.

comment Ethics of collecting non-identifiable information on install
I disagree about opt-out being unethical... It's a simple checkbox, and what you're collecting is not identifiable or personal.

comment Are version control systems a form of design pattern?
If a version control software actually 'popped' a revision off, it wouldn't be very successful.

comment Best option for PDF viewer embedded in web app
With all of the browser/plug-in considerations you might also want to investigate on-the-fly conversion from PDF to HTML.

comment What are the proper uses of the various “Sign-in” terminologies?
Do you mean What are instead of What is?

comment Favoring Immutability in Database Design
I feel like this is a solution without a problem... You should be updating, rather than creating elaborate adaptations to avoid updating.
