comment Why does assigning a variable to false return false?
Nitpicking here, but IIRC, Python does not allow using assignment as an expression; if a = b: does not compile. Assignment is a statement, and chained assignment is encoded into the grammar for assignment statements, unlike C, where it is an intentional side effect of the fact that assignment is an expression and that its return value is the assigned value. For all I know, this was a deliberate design decision, to prevent the if (foo = 1) kind of bug.

comment Why put the business logic in the model? What happens when I have multiple types of storage?
@A.Murray: Of course the Model doesn't have to be one monolithic blob of code, and separating it out into persistence, data structures, and domain logic does usually make a lot of sense. Still, MVC groups these three concerns together in the Model. In any case, when your controllers and views contain domain logic, it's no longer real MVC.

comment Using BSD and GPL in one project
GPL does not forbid commercial forks, it only mandates that any derived work is also released under GPL. There is an important distinction between "commercial" and "closed".

comment If the user declines a “continue?” prompt, what exit code should be returned?
man.cx/grep. Returning non-zero doesn't necessarily mean abnormal termination or unintended behavior.

Exit codes are not necessarily error codes.
