comment Why aren't user-defined operators more common?
It's not the problem with the symbol. It's the problem with the keyboard. I for example use emacs haskell-mode with unicode beautifier enabled. And it automatically converts ascii operators to unicode symbols. But i would not be able to type it if there would not be an ascii equivalent.
