Should I use a CMS for a new large application with a lot of common features (login, profile edit, blog etc)? Thanks Kevin, I've now started building the application without any CMS. |

Should cases be reopened for bugs, or should bugs be opened as a new case? +1 Thanks gnat, this is a great help in my argument for use of seperate cases for bugs, and how they can still be linked to the original feature |

Should cases be reopened for bugs, or should bugs be opened as a new case? @ratchetfreak Unfortunately we're only a small team, so QA is carried out by PM. |

Should cases be reopened for bugs, or should bugs be opened as a new case? We copy the application to a development server where the client can access the site. Sometimes the bugs are found internally, sometimes they are found by the client. Are you suggesting the bugs found internally (by PM) mean the case should be reopened and the bug attached to the bottom of the case/ticket? |

Is there a significant difference between working for a development company vs for a single company? @gnat I would say this is related, but not a duplicate. I'm not referring to building an in-house application vs 1 software for multiple sales. I'm talking about in-house development on the 1 project vs. a contracting company who work on multiple applications for their clients. |

Is it possible for an amateur to become a good programmer? +1 for team. I've learnt so much more working in teams than I could ever do working alone. |

Which microsoft qualification should a C# ASP.NET Web developer work towards? Cheers @Carson63000, this is very helpful. I'm currently looking through the details for the 70-515 exam. Theres a few things in the exam criteria which I don't think I understand well enough to pass. How would I learn these things? Is there a book for the exam or would this be a case of me purchasing relevant books? (For example, a book on ASP.NET MVC). I would prefer a book that covers the curriculum |

Which microsoft qualification should a C# ASP.NET Web developer work towards? @Jetti - I don't want the certification just as a way to learn C#. I've already started learning C#, I just wanted to give people a bit of background information. |

How much should my project manager know? I don't think this is a duplicate of "Should a manager (or CEO) in an IT company have an IT background to perform in the organization?". I was asking how much they should know about the project, in terms of specs. |

How much should my project manager know? Scheduling the work in so its on time etc. That would be pure PM right? |

How much should my project manager know? Having a PM who doesn't have much involvement in the project seems like a huge responsibility for the development team. |

Is this a worthwhile course to take? Thanks @maple_shaft. You're correct that I've never had a more senior developer to mentor me. I've trained myself up and am now classed as 'Lead' with juniors beneath me. But I don't have the confidence due to never having someone to reassure me im following best practice etc |

Is this a worthwhile course to take? Cheers for your response @maple_shaft. It's reassuring to know the fact I don't have any qualifications in the industry isnt a huge factor. However, I feel that because I'm self-taught I've missed a lot of basic principles that I should know. For example, I've read books on ASP.NET, but they don't go indepth about OOP etc. I suppose I could always read a book on OOP, but then are there other points I'm missing too. |

Is this a worthwhile course to take? Thanks for your response. I'm also not keen on learning in VS2008 when I'm already using VS2010 at the moment. |

How much should my project manager know? I think in that respect I'm probably classed as the 'Tech.Lead', but without the job description! |
