comment How important is the ability to touch-type?
@rmx: I'd like to know what software you use that you can simply think a program into existence. That would be nifty. Most of us poor slobs have to type our programs in.

comment Why isn't software as reliable as a car?
I don't think "reliable" is the right word to use in this question. Software is 100% reliable. It will behave the same way every time. Cars are not reliable. They degrade over time. When a computer system breaks down, it is either due to hardware failure or bad software design. The software never "goes bad".

comment Dealing with profanity in source code
KILL_CHILD is just an absurd example. And I'd like to see citation on "Off-hand comments like that have been deciding factors in real court cases." (I'm not just saying that as a STFU... I really would like to read the citation.)

comment Why does the assignment operator assign to the left-hand side?
Because when we learn algebra, we solve for x in this fashion, ending up with x = <result>.

comment Is there a clean alternative to WTF that communicates to coders?
@FarmBoy: Don't "pretend" it means something else, make it mean something else. ERA... what does it mean to you? Equal Rights Amendment? Earned Run Average? Something else? There is no wrong answer. To some people, NASA is the National Auto Sport Association (no, seriously... google "NASA")
