Why isn't Java more widely used for game development? Who the heck voted this answer down? This whole question is becoming incredibly ridiculous! Good grief. |

Why isn't Java more widely used for game development? Anto -- everything you say in your comment above is nonsensical: no offence. C was not developed "as a systems programming language". It is just bizarre to say that. If you weren't there at the time, read up on the history. Sure, it is used for systems development (but perhaps there will now be another marvellous SO question "Why isn't Java used to write driver and system code?!?!") but then, it is used FOR EVERYTHING, it's the basic worldwide everyday low-level programming language. (Actually is there even another low-level language than c?) |

Why isn't Java more widely used for game development? I think it was very admirable that EdS said "Then I bow to you sir because you have more experience in the area than I do". If only more people could show that sort of courtesy in internet discussions. Hat tip to EdS. |

Why isn't Java more widely used for game development? Anto, c/c++ was not a "systems programming" language. C is "the" low-level computer language. Only assembler is lower-level. This is why C is used for programming ... everything. Higher-level languages (perl, Java etc.) are fantastic, and they have their place too. |

Why isn't Java more widely used for game development? Java is HIGH LEVEL, c is LOW LEVEL. How can anyone possibly make this question more complicated?? It's just that simple. |
