comment How is Delphi XE2 going to work across platforms?
This is not about specific software support, it is about how things are able to work across platforms. Read the question before closing and it is not dated as delphi still works this way.

comment Upgrading inherited 3rd party code with changes
I could give it a shot, but I think you're right about #1 being the safest route, especially since I have no experience with the codebase. I don't have any way of knowing if the previous maintainer made changes when he checked in service releases over the last two years.

Shoot, I was really hoping there would be come git magic, I'll have to see if I can scrounge up the version of the code he updated to. That's the hard part, I've only got bits and pieces.

comment Should a bin directory be full of shell scripts?
@GlenH7 it's actually about code in a package I'm responsible for maintaining. Or to be more specific, code that copies scripts into the /opt/bin folder en masse. I know it's blurring the lines, but I'm a programmer, not a system administrator... Jim.

comment Should maven generate jaxb java code or just use java code from source control?
I was going to -1 this answer because it just refutes the premises but since I so wholeheartedly agree with you, I'd rather just -2 everyone who checks in generated code.
