Alright, thanks for clearing that up. I need to pay more attention to the FAQ from now on. Perfectly valid -1 then in my opinion. Thanks.

Less constructive in which way? I never even realized I copied anything to be honest. I just wrote from scratch without looking much at the other responses. Maybe that's not the correct way to go either. :P

comment What is a widely accepted term for a string variable that would probably contain a file path and file name?
Good call, edited my answer to hopefully make it less ambiguous. :)

I'm OMGWTFBBQ certified... Well, I wish I was at least.

Are you the toilet in this analogy? :DD Joking aside, I can definitely relate to this, so +1.

Regarding the comments on that your professional career is in great danger if you don't spend at least a small amount on your free time on programming, I find this interesting: programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/48698/…

+1 to this. While I absolutely love programming, and that I'm able to earn money on something I love doing, I don't see the point in doing MORE programming outside of work. I have so many other hobbies (DJing, producing music, weight-lifting, drawing and street dance for instance) that I don't see the point on spending more hours on something I already do 40 hours / week.

comment Self-documenting code vs Javadocs?
+1, that's a good call. I think my main grip with this is that I don't see it as two different target audiences, but you are right.

comment Self-documenting code vs Javadocs?
I definitely agree to this. Is there anything else you'd consider when it comes to javadocs in particular? Like, I can imagine that describing what a method does might be useful for e.g. APIs.

@Keith Thompson: Haha yeah, you're right. I guess I just watch too many TV series. ;)

comment Why do so many developers believe performance, readability, and maintainability cannot coexist?
SK-logic: In my opinion that's one of the best parts of all the stackexchange sites, since one gets to question the obvious, which can be healthy every now and then. What might be obvious to you might not be obvious to someone else, and vice versa. :) Sharing is caring.

+1, if not only for the mentioning of duplicate code, but for the sheer effort involved in your story of code refactoring. :D

comment Should a competent programmer be able to come up with his own shortest path algorithm?
@Brian Yeah, agreed. The thing is however that one tends to forget that most of the time you're actually comparing a whole community's knowledge with your own. At least I tend to forget that. ;)
