Thanks, that was my other guess, I guess I just didn't see how NIH and the class library would be related.

NIH - does this possibly stand for "Not Invented Here"?

comment I don't program in my spare time. Does that make me a bad developer?
Then you need to also compete with those that aren't.

comment Should one learn new languages or only should concentrate on languages you already know and increase your knowledge of it?
Judging by the up-vote count, this question is constructive in the opinion of many. I think Mark Trapp is actually a computer program written to close down questions.

so in other words, js is the more powerful language when it comes to client-side browser web apps? There is a C# sort of "compiler" to js though nikhilk.net/ScriptSharpIntro.aspx, but I haven't tried it.

@azheglov, "data layer" was my first thought, but then I looked at this and I figured to go with whatever terminology I saw on MSDN: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb384398.aspx. I'd agree that data layer is more precise though.

comment Most effective way to increase programmer salary besides just doing your job?
I'm considering this, but at this stage in my career I'm not confident enough to do that. Know any good resources to begin learning on how to go as an independent programmer consultant? Is managing the extra administrivia i.e IRS forms a lot more difficult?
