I might add that this is in the context of integration tests, so it's maven/JUnit that is doing all the work instead of some application container.

Nice to see that there is a library for managing configuration, however I still don't see where I should put the code to start the whole process of loading the configuration and how I'm gonna get a reference to a Configuration class. Regarding the use of an absolute or relative path, although it is true that your suggestion is better and more flexible, it is not really the point of the question.
