I am a monotony hater that found in programming the best weapon against it. Currently engaged in iOS development.

All right, thank you very much

Yeah, that might be the problem. I currently have lots of element.enabled = true, element.enabled = false spread across the code, which makes it very hard to maintain.

In this particular case is pretty difficult to rely on the model. It's some kind of recording audio view with some controls that need to be activated/deactivated or changed depending on the recording state. I don't see how the data model fits in there. I do look at the model in other views to manage the content but in this particular case it seems hard to me. I think that what I was thinking about was a better way to manage changes in the view when the different events occur. Thanks for the responses though!

Yeah, but there are elements that are not model-dependant, like other buttons or menu items that need to be activated/deactivated. How do I go about these?

@Mark Yes, that is true, but we are working on improving testing and we are getting better and better.

Thanks! I just read "The Pragmatic Programmer" and indeed I totally agree with rubberducking because it helps me a lot talking out when i get stuck at something, it is just that i don't want to look like a freak talking to an object haha. But sure I am gonna start talking more to people. Thanks for the answers.

I certainly agree with you about tests, but since i already use them, I find the answer provided by unholysampler more useful in my particular situation. But thanks!

Hey, I am the one who knows the most about the project i have been working on, and still I find quite hard to picture the outcome that my changes will produce.I mean, I can figure out most of it, but there are always things missing, and I am in need of a better approach, a more methodical way of doing things, or perhaps a bigger brain...
