comment Empirical Evidence of Popularity of Git and Mercurial
@Rig And here I always thought that SO had far more C# questions because C# is more popular on SO than C++. Nope, it's just that C# is far more difficult!

comment What is the “default” software license?
a) In the absence of any explicit license, putting a work on the Internet for anyone to download means that there is an implied license to download the work (and make any copies that downloading requires). b) In the United States, the Copyright Act specifically states that making copies in RAM (and any other incidental copies required to use software with a computer) is not an exclusive right of the copyright holder. So, as David stated, simply using software for its intended purpose is never copyright infringement.

comment At which point do you “know” a technology enough to list it on a resume
I'm not convinced that writing a book on a subject qualifies for the "10" rating. It've thrown down books with an ambivalent "Meh." after a few chapters when I realize I'm already more proficient than the author of the book. In short, some really crappy books make it to publication.

comment Is there such a thing as a super programmer?
I lost any respect I might have had for the author of that book as soon as I read that he was once the "architect of a Java-based transactional messaging system". Oh, well, at least he had the sense to quit that job.

comment What was your most difficult bug hunt and how did you find it and kill it?
As if we lefties aren't already treated enough like second class citizens. Now we also have to get saddled with more than our fair share of software bugs... gee, thanks! :p

comment How do you deal with people who ask you to fix their computer?
@Alexandru: "Oooh... that's a PowerPC based MacMini. Sorry, I only know the Intel ones." You can always find an excuse.
