comment Should I still use a web application framework?
Both ways are valuable. I get it that you are wary of adding code you don't understand to solve problems you don't know you have. Reinventing the wheel yourself at least once will be an excellent companion to learning the theory.

comment How to join the World of Programming?
I would get a Java certification and find a job. Java is the easiest of languages and the most sought after by employers. Working with better programmers is the fastest way to learn. Read whatever you enjoy reading, you'll figure it out along the way.

comment Why do programmers use or recommend Mac OS X?
@Dkuntz2 They use Ubuntu for 3D rendering, which is part of the process, being video editing a different one. I'm out before I get a badge for holywar :P

Sorry, that should say 20% market share for FCP, 50% is the increase in sales.

@DKuntz2 Sorry, you don't know what you are talking about. FYI the products for non linear editing are Avid (Win/Mac), Premiere (Win/Mac), Sony Vegas (Win), and Final Cut (Mac) which has almost 50% market share. Comparing any of them to Cinelerra is ridiculous. AFAIK Adobe has never released anything for Windows first/only. I don't know of any software you can run on Linux that I can't (there may be some). And even if I needed to run a Linux OS, I would still buy Mac hardware because it is high quality, well tested, and the time I save is worth more money than what I pay.
