comment Pros and cons of working remotely / from home
I guess that depends on your definition of 'meeting'. In my current team I haven't had a meeting in 3 months and I think this is probably the best team I've ever worked on

comment When deciding on whether or not to work for a new company, what are your dealbreakers?
Interesting you say that, because I never really care about this - it's pretty much impossible to enforce

comment What are the criteria for evaluating an ORM for.NET?
Home-grown ORMs always suck. The best ones are always worse than the crappiest public ORMs.

comment What hat should a programmer not wear?
THIS. Seriously, just because I work ON computers doesn't mean I can fix infrastructure. You're just wasting your developers' time.

Would this still apply to a startup? Many startups work crazy hours and they would probably tell you up-front that you may need to work 60 hours a week from time to time...

comment Why no client-side HTML include tag?
The <iframe> element basically says "load the specified html document and stick it here". You would choose it instead of ajax if you want the document to be loaded immediately, not on a javascript call... Frames are NOT windowing layout of HTML. Div, p, br - these are all elements used for layout. You don't use frames for layout (or you shouldn't anyways).

comment Testing minor browser version compatibility
Writing Selenium code in a JUnit unit test is not unit testing. It's integration/system testing being run by a unit testing platform. Unit testing means you test a single unit of code in isolation, for example a single method on a single object. Browser testing is NOT unit testing.

I think you're misunderstanding the concept of 'Unit testing'. Automated testing != Unit Testing.

comment If one is to learn a new programming language each year, what should the list be?
I don't really believe in this '1 language per year' thing, but I do think you should definitely know at least one compiled and one dynamic language

comment Why no client-side HTML include tag?
Yes that's exactly what an iFrame is for.

comment Why no client-side HTML include tag?
I disagree - I think that's exactly what frames do. What else are frames for except including more HTML?

comment Can I do anything to improve performance in VS 2010?
Think you need more than 2GB ram for VS 2010 - it's a memory monster

comment How do you decide what to work on in your own time?
Yeah Project Euler is a great way of learning new languages

comment What are the arguments against or for putting application logic in the database layer?
I would guess cause you can make changes to your database without committing it to version control, but you can't really do the same with code...

comment What are the arguments against or for putting application logic in the database layer?
My guess is it's because they sit around most of the time doing nothing, so when you finally give them something to review they want to really milk the attention. Maybe it's just me...
